All About Chris

Chris Richards has been a versatile and popular teacher, clinician, and player on
the Philadelphia scene for over 20 years.

Chris has played in Rock and Soul bands, Drum and Bass, improvisational jazz and
is a founding member of “Crotchet-Quaver and the Rests”, a drum troupe which
literally takes it to the streets.

Chris was a featured teacher/clinician for George’s Music Studios for many years,
and currently has his own home-based studio in Flourtown, PA.

As a perpetual student himself, Chris has studied with Martin Bradfield for many
years and has also taken lessons from Ari Hoenig; attended workshops with Dave
Garabaldi and Drummers Collective in NYC; attended Jazz courses at Montgomery County Community College, and as testimony to his endless curiosity has a personal library of hundreds of drum books and recordings from which he draws endless inspiration.

This inspiration is what Chris tries to instill and also, to “lead out” from his
hundreds of students over the years, students who are themselves playing gigs,
marching in championship marching bands and exemplifying Chris’ motto and
mantra that, “The Rhythm has to Flow!”
